Canada Go Abroad, Toronto and Vancouver

The Go Abroad Fair series is organised by the Canadian Education Centre Network, an organisation with a similar mandate to Education New Zealand.

The event showcases opportunities for Canadian youth to "take on the world" through study abroad, work and volunteer opportunities, cultural programs and overseas adventure travel. Enthusiasm for going abroad continues to grow among young Canadians.

Originally only in Toronto the fair has been expanded to also occur in Vancouver.

Education New Zealand’s NZTE representative in North America organised and staffed an Education New Zealand booth in both cities.

The Toronto, Go Abroad Fair was held on 15-16th of September and attracted over 5,000 visitors. The Vancouver fair held on 17-18 September was less popular with just over 2,500 visitors but the number was pleasing considering it was the first Go Abroad fair in this city.

The booth was attended by not just Education New Zealand’s NZTE representative but also the MoE US Education Counsellor, Education New Zealand’s Communications Director, and representatives from the University of Waikato and Otago Polytechnic.

Enquirers at the Education New Zealand booth seemed well informed and serious about study options in New Zealand. Teacher training proved to be of most interest to those visiting the Education New Zealand booth.  Many students were also interested in post-graduate programs, including master’s degree programs, outdoor adventure education programmes, work volunteering, working holiday, tourism etc…
