Education New Zealand commissioned NZTE Kuala Lumpur to host a New Zealand Education fair series in August 2007.
Fairs were held in Kuala Lumpur (18 August), Petaling Jaya (19 August), Penang (21 August), and Kota Kinabalu (23 August).
Fairs were extensively promoted utilising a number of publicity channels. Press advertising provided the most effective reach in all cities, overwhelmingly so in Kuala Lumpur, and Petaling Jaya. However, in Penang and Kota Kinabalu other promotional channels such as outdoor advertising, the internet and agent referrals were also significant channels.
All 8 New Zealand universities attended the fair series, as well as 2 ITPS, and a PTE.
There were 1340 visitors across all fairs. Kuala Lumpur attracted 565 students, Petaling Jaya - 375, Penang - 200, and Kota Kinabalu - 200.
As percentages of total visitor numbers to all fairs those interested in secondary schooling accounted for 6% of visitors, foundation studies 15%, undergraduate studies 47%, postgraduate studies 30% and vocational training 2%.
At each fair generic “Study in New Zealand” presentations were held and well attended. |
