India New Zealand Education Fair Series For the second year Education New Zealand commissioned NZTE to host an April series of fairs. This year Mumbai, Cochin & New Delhi were chosen as venues on 15, 18 & 22 April respectively. A comprehensive promotional campaign was rolled out prior to and during the fairs. Fair inserts in popular newspapers in each city were backed by an intensive advertising campaign on key radio stations and extensive feature advertising in newspapers across the three cities. In Delhi, a 35 second New Zealand education video was developed and aired prior to the fairs on plasma screens in 52 McDonald outlets and 30 Nirulas outlets (Indian fast food chain). Outdoor advertising was used in each city including arches, banners and mobile hoardings. A PR agency was also hired to help generate publicity resulting in significant television and print coverage, particularly of speeches made by New Zealand’s High Commissioner to India and New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner. 1,435 visitors came to the fairs to meet with 6 universities, 8 institutes of technology, and 6 private training establishments. A cocktail evening was held in Mumbai prior the beginning of the fairs. All NZ participants & NZIER members were invited. Student seminars were held at each fair covering student visa processes and requirements as well as general information on studying in New Zealand. Two meetings were organised for the NZIER members with NZTE, INZ, & the NZ institutions representatives in each of the cities. The first was primarily a market briefing and the second a more informal opportunity to network and address issues of interest between all parties.
