CCIEE Fair Series, October 20 -28

 

 

The China Center for International Educational Exchange (CCIEE) was established by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). CEAIE is affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China. CCIEE’s focus is to enhance educational cooperation between China and other countries, to improve the quality of Chinese education, and to facilitate the opportunity for Chinese students to study abroad.

CCIEE held its annual fair series in seven cities throughout China. Education New Zealand organised a New Zealand Education Pavilion in three of these Beijing (20 – 21 October), Wuhan (25 October), and Shanghai (27-28 October).

Over 700 institutions from over 44 countries took part in all or some of the fair series. Amongst these institutions were 15 national agencies such as Education New Zealand, The British Council and IDP.

European countries were given feature nation status and were positioned in prominent booth locations.

In total, over 67,800 visitors attended the fair series. 32,000 visitors attended the Beijing fair, 21,000 went in Shanghai, and 3,000 visited the Wuhan fair. The fairs Education New Zealand did not a host a pavilion at attracted 3,000 in Qingdao, 3,500 Xi’an, 2,800 Chengdu, and 2,500 in Shenzhen.

Visitors were mainly interested in Graduate study (62%) and undergraduate study (22%) with the language sector enjoying the third most interest at 5%.

The U.S. continues to be the most popular destination with CCIEE fair goers. 22% of visitors expressed an interest in this country, 16% were interested in the U.K., 11% in Canada, 10% in Australia, Germany 9%, France 7%, and New Zealand 3%.

The fairs were publicised via 78 media organisations including television, radio, print and web channels.

Education NZ pavilion was staffed by a number of ENZ’s NZTE China representatives as well as INZ China personnel.

As well as helping to organise Education New Zealand’s presence at the fair, NZTE representatives organised Education New Zealand agent seminars in conjunction with the Beijing and Wuhan fairs. Both seminars were well attended and some New Zealand providers attending the fairs as part of the Education New Zealand pavilion also attended these seminars.
 
Supporting Education New Zealand’s presence at the Beijing fair New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner was interviewed with an INZ Immigration Counsellor by Beijing Television and Central Digital TV. In Wuhan, the Trade Commissioner was interviewed by the Wuhan Morning Post and Changjiang Daily Press. In Shanghai an INZ Immigration Counsellor and the New Zealand Deputy Consul General were interviewed by Shanghai Evening Post, Oriental Morning Post, Xinmin Evening News, and Youth Daily.
10 New Zealand education providers joined the Education New Zealand pavilion including 7 universities, 1 ITP, 1 PTE and 1 Intermediate school.
