China
Agent Seminars
Education New Zealand commissioned NZTE to hold a number of Agent seminars as part of the China depth strategy.
3 were held during the 2006/7 financial year. These were in Hangzhou (3 February), Shanghai (14 June) and Chongqing (7 March).
Between 15 and 20 agencies attended each seminar.
The seminars consisted of two core presentations. The first was by NZTE who explained the New Zealand Education system (with comparisons to Chinese systems), and particularly the pathways to tertiary education. The second presentation was by representatives of INZ and covered in some detail visa requirements and processes for Chinese students wishing to study in New Zealand. INZ also discussed immigration options after completion of study, student loan schemes, and the cost of living in New Zealand.
A question and answer session was also held at each seminar.
The seminar finished with an informal lunch, enabling agents to network with New Zealand representatives and providers attending concurrent fairs (in the cases of Hangzhou and Chongqing).
