In 2006 India was selected as a Depth Market for the New Zealand international education industry. The New Zealand Specialist Agent Group for India (previously known as NZIER) was developed in that year due to the large number of education agents in India, and to provide a means by which effective agents can easily be identified by students and industry. Later in 2009, the Specialist Agent Group for Sri Lanka will be available. At the same time, it aims to increase the effectiveness and commitment of those Agents promoting New Zealand education.
The Market Profile for India and Sri Lanka have been made available online and can assist with the setting of marketing strategies and decision making around event attendance. The latest Visa and Export Education Levy Statistics are sourced from The Department of Labour and The Ministry of Education respectively and are available on the Statistics page.

NZSA Workshop, Kovalam, 19/20 May A mandatory training/discussion workshop for the 24 NZSA Agents to provide feedback on the NZSA programme and discuss how to improve the profile of New Zealand education in India.
Aspire Magazine Advertising, May & June 2011 Each of the May and June English editions of Aspire Magazine will feature New Zealand Education full page full colour advertisements. Aspire is the education supplement of India Today magazine, which is distributed nationally.
Aspire also print a Hindi edition of the magazine. The New Zealand Educated advertisement, using the 'lively' brand value will feature in the May Hindi edition.
Outlook Magazine Advertising & Editorial, May 2011 A full page full colour Study in New Zealand advertisement will feature in the first May edition of Outlook Magazine. Outlook is distributed nationally, it sells more than 11.2 million copies annually and is stated to be the preferred magazine of 1.5 million readers in India. The magazine will also feature a half page write up on New Zealand education.
Career 360 Magazine Advertisements, May & June 2011 This is the Education Supplement magazine of Outlook magazine, which is distributed nationally. New Zealand Education advertisements will appear in both May and June editions of Career 360.
TV Scroller Ads, 1 - 31 May 2011 20 scrolling text ads promoting New Zealand Education will run daily during the Prime Time News on ETV Gujarati channel. The ad is limited to 12 words, it will read "Study in New Zealand for Research Excellence, Applied Learning, Quality Education, www.newzealandeducated.com“. The Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament runs through April and May with the final scheduled for 28 May, so during the month of May television watching rates will be higher than normal. Gujarati TV will be regularly telecasting the IPL highlights. Punjab & Gujarat are the two main source regions for international students, therefore it is important to build our visibility in these regions. Punjab will be taken care of through other activities, therefore it is ideal to target the Gujarat region with the TV scroll ads.
PR Promotions, Chandigarh, 1 - 14 May 2011 A two week promotional campaign using print, radio, online and outdoor billboards will promote New Zealand Education and the role of the local Chandigarh based NZSA agents. With over 1,000 agents in the city, six NZSA agents (Aims Global, Charms Education, IEGC Liz Batra, Kangaroo Studies, Oceanic Consultants & Silver Fern Education) have all committed to financially contribute to the campaign. We will contribute INR100,000 toward the fund to support their efforts.
The Hindu International- Education Plus Fair, Kochi, 2 May 2011 This education fair is being organised by the Hindu Group of publications, more information about the series of fairs is available HERE New Zealand Education will be promoted at the Kochi event only, to be held at the Taj Gateway Hotel. A one hour generic presentation on New Zealand Education options will be presented to visitors. Kochi based NZSA agents will also attend and promote New Zealand institutions.
Agent Support Seminars, India, April & May 2011 A series of seminars will be held in Kolkata (6 April), Bangalore (28 April) and Karnal (24 May). Later on another will take place in Bhopal (5 June). During these seminars the local ENZ representative will work closely with local NZSA agents to run an event with the objective of providing plenty of clear, unbiased information about Studying in New Zealand. A generic powerpoint presentation about living and studying in New Zealand will begin each two hour seminar.
EDEX Fair, Sri Lanka, 22 - 24 January 2011 EDEX is one of the largest and most popular education exhibitions held in Sri Lanka. A large New Zealand Education booth promoted study options at the event. This year UCOL, NSIA and University of Waikato as well as the local Sri Lankan NZSA agents supported the booth. The fair ran for three days and was open for 10 hours each day, there were 125 exhibitors from 16 countries and more than 15,000 visitors were recorded. New Zealand Education Fair , Sri Lanka, 18 September 2010 (PACE 2010) A one day fair was held in the city of Colombo to promote New Zealand education, fourteen providers attended, ten from the ITP sector and four from the PTE sector. The venue was the Colombo Hilton, more than 400 visitors were recorded at the event. The URL created for the event, www.nzeducated.com/slfair was visited 655 times during the promotional period.
ITP Cluster Education Fair, Cochin , 15 September 2010 11 Institutes of Technology & Polytechnics and 6 NZ Specialist Agents participated in the fair, held at the Hotel Taj Gateway, Ernakulam. The fair was attended by approximately 120 visitors. The majority of ITP representatives felt that the quality of student enquiries was very good and focused. Immigration New Zealand, New Delhi & ANZ Bank representatives also attended.
Interactive Van - Outdoor Promotion, 1 August - 14 September 2010 This campaign involves outdoor promotions, primarily in Southern India. (Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore). Three 'New Zealand Educated' branded vans will park in university campus areas, shopping malls, cinema halls and other catchments areas to attract potential students. There will be an MC in each of these vans, our DVD playing, and three staff talking to potential students and getting forms filled out. Local NZSA agents will also join in to answer enquiries and talk about New Zealand education opportunities. As at 1 September, contact details for 2,858 students had been handed over to NZSA agents.

Outlook Magazine Advertising, May 2010 India’s most popular English language magazine covers information on Current Affairs, International, Business and Features and is produced weekly. The 3 May issue will feature an ‘Education Spectrum’, it is within this special issue that a full page full colour advertisement with a simple ‘Study in New Zealand’ message will be placed. Alongside the advertisement a half page of editorial titled 'Great Learning, Great Lifestyle' provides further information about study options in New Zealand. Readers are recommended to find further information at www.newzealandeducated.com. Outlook Magazine has a nationwide print run of 307,000 copies, the estimated readership figure is 1,700,000.

Twenty20 Inter School Cricket Competition, New Delhi, April 2010 To draw attention to New Zealand as an educational destination of choice for Indian students, a Twenty20 tournament involving five prestigious high schools in Delhi has been organised under the 'Study in New Zealand' banner. EDEX Fair, Colombo & Kandy, Sri Lanka, January 2010 EDEX is one of the largest and most popular education exhibitions held in Sri Lanka. This year there were over 300 exhibitors representing more than 23 countries. Approximately 50,000 visitors are estimated to have attended over the 5 days. The New Zealand pavilion was the winner of the Runners Up Trophy for the best stand in the international category.

The Times of India is a popular English-language broadsheet daily newspaper with a circulation of 13,335,000 copies per issue. It is reputed to have the widest circulation among all English-language daily newspapers in the world, across all formats. One large 'Study In New Zealand' feature article was published on two full pages covering topics including Education Environment, Eligibility Criteria, Visa Facts and Useful Websites.

India Inbound Tour, June 2009 Three winners of the online contest 'Test your KiwiIQ' were flown to New Zealand for a ten day familiarisation tour and visits to New Zealand institutions. They were accompanied by two Indian journalists.
Outlook Magazine - New Zealand Promotion, June 2009 India’s most popular English magazine covers information on Current Affairs, International, Business and Features (English & Hindi) and is produced weekly. A Special June issue featured the annual survey and ranking of The Best Professional Colleges in India. One full page and 3/4 strip ads were placed in the June issue and one 1/2 page ad in the subsequent issue. 300,000 copies are printed per week and distributed nationwide.

In-country Agent Support Establishment of the New Zealand India Education Representatives (NZIER) group, which was later changed to New Zealand Specialist Agent (NZSA) Group India. Membership is restricted to the top performing agencies from large and small centres and is based on the number and quality of student applications they submit.
Inbound Agents Visit Four agents were selected based on their significant contribution to inbound Indian student numbers or their potential/capacity to become a significant agent in the NZ market. Visits to universities, ITPs, and PTEs in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, the Hawke's Bay, New Plymouth, Wellington and Christchurch were part of the tour.
Research Project - Other Opportunities JWT undertook research in to what the New Zealand export education sector’s competition is doing in India and what new market opportunities within India our sector can develop. As a result of suggestions that not all Indian students in New Zealand are having a positive experience, it was anticipated that depth funding from the 2006-7 financial year will also be used to provide objective research in to the outcomes of Indian students studying in New Zealand.
