The first set of events to be held in Malaysia for 2012 are planned from February 26th - March 4th and will begin in Petaling Jaya, following the New Zealand Education Fair in Jakarta, Indonesia. New Zealand Education Fairs have been held twice annually in Malaysia for over 10 years and this series of one day fairs will held in both East and West Malaysia. Cities hosting these events include Petaling Jaya, Penang and Kuching, followed by Kota Kinabalu, Penang and Petaling Jaya later in the year, in August.

During 2011 New Zealand Education Fairs in both March and August saw 1,827 visitors attend.
The venues and timing have been confirmed as below:
Sunday 26 February, 2012 Petaling Jaya - Grand Dorsett Subang, 11.00am to 5.00pm
Thursday, 1 March 2012 Penang - Traders Hotel, 2.30pm to 6.30pm
Sunday, 4 March 2012 Kuching – Hilton Hotel, 11.00am – 4.00pm

Registrations have now opened and events will go ahead based on industry demand. For the earlier set of events confirmation is required by Friday 2nd December. Please be sure to register for all of those fairs you are interested in attending and this will ensure the popular events go ahead.

Almost 921 visitors attended the New Zealand Education Fairs held in March 2011 across three locations.
Kuching for the second year after returning to this city saw an almost doubling in fair visitors last year. Showing an increase of interest across all sectors with the exception of postgraduate studies. Kuching has the strongest interest for secondary education with 7% of enquires recorded in March 2011.

Statistics show that the growth of Malaysian students coming to study in New Zealand has been steady and INZ first time student visa’s approved during the 2010 – 2011 year reached 778.

Fair visitors’ numbers are also steady with a strong increase on more informed enquires. Please see the activity over the last 4 years of the fair visitor numbers.

Marketing in Malaysia is particularly relevant for the tertiary market.  Please see the sector breakdown of current students studying in NZ taken from the INZ, September 2011 figures. Universities, ITPs, PTEs and some secondary schools are encouraged to participate.
