Conference

With a little over two weeks to go, the final touches to what will be an interesting and thought provoking industry conference are coming together.

If you haven’t registered yet, here’s why we think you should be there:

  • Secondary school workshops – Wednesday from 11am.  Schools will have a fantastic opportunity to get together and discuss common challenges and solutions in a half days workshop, designed for school – by schools.  An agenda will be posted online very soon.
  • “Future Directions and Priorities for ITPs in Internationalisation” – Mark Flowers from Wintec and Margaret Pierson from CPIT will take a look at where ITPs are heading internationally, and the best way for the sector to develop and grow.
  • Latest Research - we have four major market research projects being released at the conference.  In addition, Will Archer from i-Graduate and Dan Guhr from the Illuminate Consulting Group will lead focused sessions on Wednesday around their recently released research projects.  Institutions who’ve been involved in any way with the Tertiary International Benchmarking Project and the Trends, Strategies and Best Practices in International Student Recruiting research are invited to attend discussions regarding the outcomes as well as where to from here.
  • Marketing Tips for Schools - schools marketers will be sharing their tips and advice for dealing with particular markets and situations with fellow sector representatives;
  • Ranking specialist Simon Marginson from Monash University will speak about his latest work in international rankings surveys and what they mean for New Zealand and offshore institutions;
  • Offshore Ventures - Two internationally respected academics from the UK, David Greenaway and Maurits van Rooijen will talk to delegates about their experiences and recommendations for institutions looking to diversify offshore and into joint institutions and partnerships;
  • Helen Zimmerman from ACL in Australia will be sharing her thoughts and experiences with innovation in offshore education, as well as comparing New Zealand’s environment to Australia – just how well are we performing?
  • Rob Rabel from Victoria University of Wellington will be sharing his thoughts on the challenges that institutions face and how they can succeed in the new funding environment.
  • Networking Opportunities Galore!  Most people who attend conference do so, not only for the fantastic content, but for the countless networking opportunities to get in touch with your fellow sector and industry representatives.  Additionally, the Thursday night is an event not to be missed. You should know by now that the fantastic Beat Girls will be performing from 9pm, plus there will be a separate lounge bar running.
  • International Education Excellence Awards - the winners of the International Education Excellence Awards will be announced over the conference dinner.  Judges are currently assessing the entries – there are some fantastic ones this year – for the Internationalisation Award, Excellence in Marketing, Innovation and Student Support categories.  Good luck to all those who entered and we’ll see you there on the night!

The New Zealand export education industry isn’t standing still, and the conference is the best time to get the latest information – all in one place, all at one time.

See you in Christchurch from 8 to 10 August!  If you still haven’t registered, get online NOW!

Discounts for multiple delegates

Check out the discount schedule available for multiple institutional registrations.  We recognise that to send only one delegate to the only industry wide event in the annual calendar may mean you’ll be missing out on vital information. We’ve put together some great discounts so that you can send more than one person from your institution.

With three separate streams, your institution can send someone to cover off the Policy and overarching industry strategy sessions, another person to cover of the practical marketing sessions, such as online marketing and working with the New Zealand Educated brand and another to cover the industry research and reporting sessions.

If you send one delegate, you’ll pay $750 + GST for the three days (that includes all social functions too!).

  • If you send two delegates, you’ll get a $150 saving, meaning you’ll pay only $1250 + GST instead of $1700!
  • BUT if you send three or more delegates, you’ll receive a 33% discount for the second delegate, then a 50% discount for third and subsequent delegates.  That means, for $1600 + GST you can have three delegate to cover each stream of the conference!

PACE – loads of activities still to come in 2007

Taiwanese Agent Visit, 9 - 18 September
Taiwan is New Zealand’s 5th largest market for the Secondary Sector.  Young students keen to experiment with study choices find New Zealand’s Primary and Secondary schools provide an open environment to do so. Popular tertiary courses for Taiwanese students include Business, Tourism, Hospitality, IT and Education.  Building strong relationships with agents is vital to marketing efforts in Taiwan. Register online to invite four agents to your institution.  For more information on this activity including a list of the agents likely to visit, please click HERE or contact Rahael

Mixed-European Inbound Agents, 9 - 20 September 2007
Four European agents will visit the country in September as part of a familiarisation trip to New Zealand. We are looking at inviting agents from Italy (MAGIC TRIPS/ ANGLOMAGIC SRL), Russia (DIRECT TALK), Czech Republic (ALFA AGENCY SRO) and Austria (FSTS GESELLSCHAFT FUR STUDIENREISEN). More information is available HERE or contact Genevieve

New Zealand Education Fair, Colombo, Sri Lanka, 16 September
Registrations will close within the next fortnight this single fair in Sri Lanka.  Timed to coincide with the extensive Indian fairs series, this is one of the few opportunities to take part in collaborative marketing in Sri Lanka.  More details of this can be found HERE If you have any further queries regarding activities in India or Sri Lanka, please contact Laurette DDI: 04 917 0870

Australia/NZ Korea Fair, 3-4 November
Join up for our largest Korean marketing event of the year.  More than 13,000 new Korean student visa applications were approved last year, and Korea remains the most significant contributor of Primary/Intermediate/Secondary FFP students.  This joint fair with Australia is to be held at the COEX in Seoul and is expected to attract well over 4,000 targeted visitors, plus key agents for New Zealand.  Last year's special reduced participation fee for Primary, Intermediate and Secondary schools will again be in affect.  For more information, please click HERE or contact Rahael

Sri Lanka Agent Visit, 4 – 13 November
An alternative or addition to attending the Colombo fair in September, is hosting four Sri Lankan agents to your institution.  The group will be chosen from the list of top performing agents for New Zealand, found at HERE.  This is a great opportunity to show off your facilities and build relationships. More details can be found HERE or please contact Laurette DDI: 04 917 0870

Philippines Commonwealth Education Fair, 8 - 10 and 12 November
The sixth annual Commonwealth of Choices Exhibition, Manila, will showcase various international courses and programmes offered by the four Commonwealth countries of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.  There is a proposition for the fairs to extend to Cebu and Baguio, which widens the market considerably.
This is an annual opportunity for Philippines students interested in international qualifications to meet and compare institutes from 4 different countries all in one place. Tertiary institutions in particular should consider this marketing event in the Philippines.  For more information, please click HERE or contact Rahael
