 Education Counsellors Forum Day

Sector Forum with the Ministry of Education’s Offshore Education Counsellors

On 22 February 2007 Education New Zealand will facilitate a full day forum in Wellington with the NZ Ministry of Education’s five offshore Education Counsellors.  The Counsellors are in New Zealand for a series of meetings, including a full day set aside for institutions to receive country specific briefings from the Counsellors on education policy, education trends, regulatory and diplomacy issues.

The Forum is on Thursday 22 February, beginning at 9:10 am.  It is planned that the Minister for Tertiary Education, Hon Dr Michael Cullen, will open the day, followed by Counsellor briefings/presentations on: Europe, South East Asia, China, North America and India.  A copy of the format for the day is available HERE

If you wish to attend this workshop, please register below by close of business on 10 February. Please note there is no charge for registering and attending, but delegates will be responsible for their own return travel and, if applicable, accommodation (eg. for those staying on in Wellington for the Ministry’s ‘Bologna Day’ on 23 February, Contact Sam Mackay on 04 463 2840).  The venue will be confirmed to registered delegates after 10 February, once the number of attendees has been ascertained.

Each Counsellor session will include the opportunity for the Counsellors to respond to questions from the industry.  In the event that the questions are of a technical nature and require prior-research, Education New Zealand is collating and passing on questions for each Counsellor so that they have time to prepare a response.  If you wish to submit a question, please click HERE

The Education Counsellors are funded by the New Zealand Government (note: they are not funded by the Education Export Levy) to work on advancing New Zealand’s education relationships in selected countries of strategic significance.  The Counsellors have a close working relationship with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and Education New Zealand.  This workshop is an ideal opportunity for institutions to hear first hand about the work of the Counsellors and how they are supporting the work of educational institutions and other agencies.
