Education Agent Relationship Report

Last year, ENZ engaged Bruce Aston to undertake investigations into how we might enhance agent relationships. As an experienced industry practitioner and language school owner, Bruce was well placed to talk with and assimilate the views of agents and institutional people alike - he interviewed 61 agents and 49 providers during his research.

A summary copy of his report is available HERE

We have incorporated Bruce's findings into many of our activities (eg Fam visits) and are continuing to develop the concept of Agents groups along the NZIER model. An expanded programme of agent training seminars has been undertaken, and this forms an integral part of our NZTE networks activity. We are also actively looking at a more formalised set of agent training modules although we have not yet moved towards a formal 'qualification'. The minisites are helping as an in country communication tool for agents.

Agent relationships are always a 'work in progress'. We are keen to add value to institutional efforts but do not want to get in the way of the business relationships between agents and institutions. Ensuring that agents have newly evolved Brand collateral is our next priority.

PACE 2008

The 2008 Promotional Activity Calendar for Education (PACE) is currently being drafted.  If you have any recommendations of marketing activities for next year, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Sarah.  Comments will need to be received by Monday 10th September to be taken into consideration.

Short Courses for International Education Administrators

*PLEASE NOTE that enrolments will be accepted up to 3rd September if an enquiry is made by 31st August.

These four assessed short courses meet the requirements for the National Certificate in Business Administration, Level 4 (60 credits).  The purpose of this qualification is to meet individual skill needs that reflect the diverse roles and positions required to meet business administration and information technology needs of the business community at an advanced level.  Minimum credits specified for interpersonal communications and writing recognise the need for competencies that underpin all business administration roles.

There are four assessed short courses:

  • Pastoral care in international education
  • Services for international education
  • Meeting change and challenges in international education
  • Marketing international education

Each course involves:

  • 2 days 8.30-5.30 of face-to-face teaching in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch
  • 12 weeks of self-directed study, made up of readings, reflection, learning activities, assessments and discussions
  • Self-directed study materials posted to students at the start of each course.
  • Each week will involve up to 11 hours of study, however as students are fully engaged in working in the sector, there will be a good deal of overlap between the focus of study and their day-to-day work

The first two-day block course (Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch) will be scheduled over the period 3-16 September. If students are out of the country during block teaching there will be an equivalent CD-Rom available as an alternative, with support available if needed.

Where there are places available, applications will be accepted up until the class begins. However, as places are often limited, we recommend that you apply early.
