International Education Excellence Awards

The annual International Education Excellence Awards are now open for nominations. You can access the nomination forms online HERE

The Awards are designed to showcase and highlight excellent practice in international education, and to recognise and celebrate those institutions that are 'making it happen'.

Why bother? Simple. The Awards are peer recognition of your capabilities, and are an excellent addition to your market positioning.

There will be four categories open to Code of Practice signatory institutions for nominations in 2007. The categories are:

The Internationalisation Award is for the institution that has displayed effective integration of an international and intercultural dimension into the research, teaching and service functions within their institution.

The Excellence in Marketing Award is for excellence in marketing. The judges will be looking for innovative marketing ideas and techniques that have increased student flows from either mainstream or emerging markets, or a combination of both. Marketing activities may include in country promotions, on-line or other electronic promotions or a combination of these and other activities that have demonstrably increased recruitment.

The Excellence in Student Support Award looks for institutions that have consistently demonstrated continued excellence in pastoral care and student support programmes.

The Innovation in International Programme Award focuses on diversification (geographic markets and/or modes of supply) and innovation, and includes academic programmes and study courses that have developed new areas of tuition and/or opened up new market possibilities. Judges will be looking for programmes that are ‘out of the ordinary’ and have a long term viability. They may leverage from specific niche opportunities offered by the institution or region. Programmes may not necessarily be within New Zealand, and could encompass non traditional methods of delivery.

The Award winners will be announced during the annual industry conference. To find out more about the conference, click HERE

Depth Update

In country agent training has been a focus of depth market campaigning in June, with a major two day Agents seminar in Korea, (click HERE for a photo of participants) and two 2-day seminars in Viet Nam. These events include general information about New Zealand and the education system, specific immigration information and a number of ‘team building’ and learning exercises. These follow from earlier events in China and India.

These events are an important part of trying to enthuse agents about New Zealand, and also getting free and frank feedback from them about what could be done better. At this stage institutions have not been involved, but as the programme rolls out then specific or multi sector involvement from institutions will be incorporated.

Response from the participating agents has been very good, with most indicating a desire for an ongoing and more frequent programme of seminars and information sharing events.
