ENZ Website More Accessible
The Education New Zealand website is an important resource for the international education industry, and we are working to make it easier to use and more accessible to all.
The first step in this process has been the removal of log in requirements to access the following areas of the website: Market Information, Collateral Ordering, and Depth Market and Generic Promotions information. This is in addition to the majority of the website’s pages which have always been fully open to view.
We hope to make more areas accessible to all without the need to log in going forward, such as research reports and professional development resources. However, some activities will still require you to log in, such as registering for events, so that your details can be populated into the online forms.
Our Media Gallery, Brand Resources and New Zealand Specialist Agent secure areas will continue to have log in access only so that we can continue to protect copyrighted materials.

Promotions Update
Education New Zealand has developed a promotion and communications strategy to highlight the quality of New Zealand’s educational offering and lifestyle by letting current international students share their fantastic experiences from all around the country.
A number of the phases of this strategy have now been launched.
Phase one: Tell Us Your View www.tellusyourview.co.nz
We began our series of campaigns here in New Zealand with a student-focused initiative comprising online ads, print ads in ethnic specific media channels, and street posters. The advertisements invited international students to give their view on studying on their campus to be in to win a return trip for their parents (or friends) to come and visit them in New Zealand for two weeks. In addition, from all the entries gathered in the competition, one person from each of our key countries will be chosen to represent our campaign in their country.
All content is shared on major social platforms to enable our students to share the content in which they feature with their friends and family.
If your students haven’t yet participated in this campaign, please share this information with them to give them the opportunity to become the face of New Zealand in their country.
Phase two: Real Students, Real Stories www.realstudentsrealstories.com
Students are selected from Phase One as the Face of New Zealand in their country.
Students will feature in ads targeting their country and some will keep up an on-going dialogue about study life here in NZ. These videos will also appear as banners, Facebook ads, Facebook profiles, live video streaming sessions, and contribute to the development of agent support material.
Check out these sites – the videos are also available via YouTube so you can use them in your own promotional activities.
Phase three: Christchurch Information Portal christchurch-recovery.newzealandeducated.com
This recently launched site is a repository of facts and up to date information as to the status of Christchurch, consisting of RSS feeds and links from independent sources; as well as providing a transparent and balanced overview of the situation. This will help agents, students and parents to be fully informed of the current status of Christchurch, without media hype.
There are more phases in development, and as they progress we will update you via E-News. In the meantime please don’t forget that PACE events are free for Christchurch institutions through to June 2012 – do make the most of this opportunity to market your city and institution. |

Our Winning Websites
Online promotion and marketing is an essential tool for international education, but the internet is a crowded place and it can be difficult to draw attention to your websites.
Education New Zealand is keeping our online presence on the cutting edge to ensure that students, parents and education agents find well-presented information about studying in New Zealand and engage with it in meaningful ways.
The experts agree that we are extremely successful at this, and have been honouring our efforts recently with prestigious awards for our Learn More Stress Less and Postgraduate Study in New Zealand websites.
We have won two awards from the Web Marketing Association
-Award for Outstanding Website: Learn More Stress Less
-Award for Education Standard of Excellence: New Zealand Postgraduate
The W3 Web Awards have awarded us the following:
-2011 Gold Award Winner: New Zealand Postgraduate - Education
-2011 Silver Award Winner: New Zealand Postgraduate - Structure and Navigation
-2011 Silver Award Winner: Learn More Stress Less - Education
-2011 Silver Award Winner: Learn More Stress Less - Animation
-2011 Silver Award Winner: Learn More Stress Less - Visual Appeal
Winning awards, of course, is not the primary reason for doing what we do online. But if students are looking to study in New Zealand it's great to know that our promotions are of a quality that reflects what they will also be looking to ultimately achieve in NZ as an education destination - a world leading quality outcome. |

i-Graduate Survey Results
The i-graduate national survey of international students in ITPs and universities took place earlier this year. The survey followed on from previous National Surveys completed in 2003 and 2007 and previous i-graduate international student barometers in 2008 and 2009.
The Survey measured international student satisfaction on a variety of aspects of studying and living in New Zealand. This included how students found the arrival process, facilities and support at their ITP or university, their learning experience, life in New Zealand, making friends, and how safe they feel in public spaces.
Education New Zealand and the Ministry of Education jointly commissioned i-graduate to carry out the Survey. i-graduate’s approach allows international student experiences and satisfaction levels in New Zealand to be comprehensively compared with those of international students at institutions overseas.
Executive Summary reports for both the ITP and university sectors are available on the Ministry’s Education Counts website. You can link to the reports HERE.
Surveys of international students in PTEs, English language providers and secondary schools will be carried out in the first half of 2012 and results are expected in August next year.
For further information, please contact Marie-Louise Siddle at the Ministry’s International Division. |

India Update
India’s National Vocational Education Qualifications Framework Launched
Mr Kapil Sibal, Minister of Human Resource Development, launched India’s NVEQF on 8 October for polytechnic and engineering colleges. This framework, set to become operational from 2012, would set common principles and guidelines for a nationally recognized qualification system covering schools, vocational education institutes and institutes of higher education with qualifications ranging from secondary to doctorate level. The framework will be a competency based modular approach with provision for credit accumulation and transfer. It will be integrated with mainstream education and thus provide students multi-level entry and exit options, to enable them to seek employment after class XII.
The government is considering the establishment of a National Vocational Education and Training University with regional centres in states to implement its ambitious National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF).
FICCI Higher Education Summit
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is organising its seventh annual Higher Education Summit on 11 and 12 November in New Delhi. FICCI represents over 500 industry associations and 2500 companies. Scotland is the partner country for this year’s summit.
We encourage providers visiting India during this time to consider attending the event to get an overview of the higher education sector in India and network with the sector and industry in India. For more information, please visit the conference website HERE.
